THE OPPORTUNITY

Michelin has an immediate opening for a Lab Measurement Technician who will be responsible for the daily actions in the metrology laboratory.  This position will utilize Calibration Masters and verification standards to produce measurements according to Michelin standards while also assisting manufacturing facilities or other Measurement Technicians in the laboratory to solve quality measurement problems.   Michelin’s purpose is to support everyone’s right to move freely to find their better way forward.  If respect for people, teamwork and trust are some values you live by you should consider joining us, the Worldwide leader in Tires!

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Measurements / calibrations are performed according to the operating procedures and measurement / calibration processes resulting from the quality planning, including the provisions of Measurement Stability over time.
  • Measurement / calibration nonconformities are detected and communicated to the relevant functions. The elements allowing their treatment are available.
  • Perform calibration of various parameters of gauge types.
    • Dimensional – Hand tools, Hard gauges, vision systems, Surface Plate Flatness etc.
    • Mechanical- Pressure, Vacuum, and Torque
    •  Electrical – Multimeters, Thermocouples and RTD’s  
    • Chemical – Refractometers, pH Meters, and Conductivity meters etc.
    • Sound level meters, Belt tensioners etc.
  • Assist in the development of Calibration procedures in accordance with National, International or Industry Standards.
  • Interface with Plants regarding processes, procedures, and corrective/preventative actions, when gauges are found to be out of tolerance.                                                                                                  
  • Travel onsite to plants as needed for calibration services as needed.  Combined local & some overnight 20 – 25%

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

  • Associate’s degree from a technical school, or military training, in Calibration or a minimum of five years of experience in the Commercial calibration field.
  • A willingness to work in a lab environment (Monday-Friday on day shift).
  • Certification in Measurement & Metrology / Machine Tool / Calibration
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with internal partners, suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
